Coal is West Virginia; it’s our electricity

James D. Adkins of Oak Hill, you say coal is not West Virginia. Well, I’ll tell you a little thing. Take your air conditioner out, your washer and dryer out, your TV, turn your light switches to the off position.

Oh, and also remove your refrigerator and your cook stove if you cook with electric and any other modern convenience you own.

Just do this for a week. I believe that’s all it would take. Then tell me and the rest of the world that coal is not West Virginia. Ask your neighbors; see what they think.

By the way, the route going to Mossy is 612 not 625. I know; I grew up in that dirty, coal-covered place. I didn’t come out so bad.

God Bless.

Turnpike tolls passed to next generation

I’m 66 years old, and I can remember when I was a pre-teen in Sophia, my dad talking about when the state paid its bond indebtedness we would no longer have to pay tolls on the Turnpike. I’m beginning to wonder if that’s going to happen in my lifetime.
