Obama really wants to disarm U.S. citizens
What really are “assault weapons”?
First, let me say to those who don’t know, “assault weapons” are illegal. They are weapons used for warfare and they have been banned for public ownership since about 1934.
An assault weapon is an automatic weapon that keeps firing as long as the finger is pressing the trigger, ejecting cartridges automatically, until it runs out of ammunition. What the politicians are claiming and what many people don’t know is that the weapons that are being called assault weapons are just cosmetically different than our old hunting rifles. Yes, they just look different. As a young man I deer hunted with an automatic 30.06 or a .308 caliber rifle. It fired every time I pulled the trigger until I ran out of ammunition. I have an AR-15 style 22 rifle that fires when I pull the trigger. It is considered an assault weapon. Not because of what it does but because of the way it looks. It has a pistol grip, which is a vertical grip instead of horizontal and it has a barrel shroud, which only keeps the gun operator from burning his hands on a hot barrel. How can cool barrels lead to violent crimes? Why do I own this rifle that looks different? Because it’s fun to shoot.
There are hundreds of arguments and examples like I just gave that refutes the banning of guns. It is a terrible tragedy that some people decide to shoot innocent people, but banning our guns is not the answer. What about the argument to ban high capacity magazines? It doesn’t matter how many rounds fit in a magazine if the shooter has multiple magazines. Look at the massacre at Virginia Tech. With one pistol of 10-round capacity and one with 15-round capacity, a wacko named Cho killed more people than anyone has ever killed in a single U.S. shooting incident. When one magazine runs out you simply drop it out and pop in another. It takes 3-5 seconds, depending on your proficiency. Cho was able to carry out this terrible massacre because he carried a backpack with 19 magazines.
The Obama administration does not care about protecting our children. They want to disarm the citizens of this country. Then we will have no way to defend ourselves.
If they cared about our kids, they would attack the movie, TV and video industry and get rid of all the violence that kids and adults are subjected to. They would return voluntary prayer and discipline in the classroom. They would go after deadbeat dads, domestic abuse, and do more to promote the traditional family. They would promote the value of life and stop killing millions of babies. And certainly, they would support programs that identifies and treats mental illness. And they would enforce the laws against gun crimes, just to name a few of what needs to be done.
In the last 13 years, there have been about 210 people killed in mass shootings. That should have never happened, but it wasn’t the guns’ fault. The fault comes from a morally decaying society. And that’s what needs our concern.
