America is mad about nation’s direction
My wife and I this past week returned from our ninth round-trip by car to the West Coast. Every American should do this at least once in their lifetime. It is the only way to truly appreciate the magnitude of this country. All of us are positively blessed to be living as free people in the greatest place on earth. We were gone 23 days, drove 7,500 miles and passed through 15 states. We always see something new that astounds us and makes us even more proud to be an American.
As is our custom on these trips, we try to absorb as much of the local culture as we can. We listen to, watch and read only the local radio, TV and newspapers. We try to stay and eat in local establishments, so that we can talk to the locals. This is always an enlightening experience, especially this time.
I’m here to tell you that America is mad. America feels like they have been lied to by the people in Washington. Obama promised them jobs and a return to prosperity. What they have gotten is socialism crammed down their throats and a national debt most feel we can never repay. Ninety percent have health insurance they are satisfied with and now must change to accommodate the 10 percent who don’t have insurance. Where are the jobs? Where has all of that stimulus and TARP money gone? Who has it? What deep pockets have all of those billions disappeared into? The real Americans, the ones who get up and go to work every day. The ones who pay their taxes and never ask the government for anything. The ones who raise and educate their children by the sweat of their brows are mad. These people do not want big government. They fear socialism. They feel like Washington thinks they are stupid.
We must begin to turn it around this coming November. If we don’t, we really are in trouble. That’s what most everybody we talked to feels. You can be sure that before the election, some political hack is going to tell you that it is not a good idea to change a horse in the middle of the stream. Well, I’m here to tell you, if the horse is drowning, you’d better get off and start freestyling. The current administration is taking on water fast and should be looking for lifeboats.
Obama never was the answer to our problems and most Americans are starting to realize that. Many feel he is actually a bump in the road. Nov. 2 — cast a vote for America.

Thanks to cafe staff for their efforts
I would like to thank the staff at the Open Door Cafe. My husband and I had breakfast there on July 31. While they were very busy, the staff was extremely nice and went out of their way to make sure we got what we needed and that everything was good. I encourage anyone to try them out who has not done so yet. Thank you again for a nice Saturday morning breakfast.
