WVU thanks Beckley for hospitality to team

On behalf of the West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, I would like to thank the citizens of Beckley and the surrounding area for their hospitality in welcoming our Mountaineer baseball team to your city.

Our players were excited and proud to play in front of such great, enthusiastic and supportive crowds in beautiful Linda K. Epling Stadium. The Mountaineers also want to thank Doug and Tim Epling, along with the entire staff of the West Virginia Miners, for their first-class hospitality.

It was a historic weekend for WVU baseball as we earned our first-ever Big 12 sweep before a combined two-day crowd of more than 3,000 spectators. The Mountaineers certainly look forward to returning to Beckley for a game against Marshall at Linda K. Epling Stadium on Tuesday, May 14.

I hope the Mountaineer fans of Beckley enjoyed the weekend as much as we did. Winning was great, but the accommodations, fans, city and stadium management were second to none.

Once again, thank you, Beckley, and Let’s Go Mountaineers.

Oliver Luck

WVU Director of Athletics
