Thank God for the Second Amendment

I thank God that Sen. Manchin and President Obama failed to take away our guns.

I thank God for the wisdom of the framers of the U.S. Constitution that gave us the right to bear arms to resist the British from boarding troops in our homes and burning our homes and farms when it suited the British army.

The Constitution provided us the basis for arms, with which to protect our families from evil highwaymen, from beasts as big as chestnut trees, dangers from the far flung frontier and, of course, to feed our families. Today, as yesterday, we live in a dangerous world.

It is obvious that Manchin and Obama cannot or will not protect us from terrorists, either from the east, or from the distant west, or even from our own homeland. It is also obvious, our ultimate safety depends on self-reliance and self-protection. The only sure way to keep our precious children and wives safe is with weapons to ward off terrorists who are roaming our streets and who are killing and maiming us.

All I can say is thank God for the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment, which gives authority to the people, the right to possess and retain arms for the people’s common defense.

Thanks for the help with veteran benefits

Dear Congressman Rahall,

I wanted to thank you for the work you’ve done to help my husband, Marion Lilly, and I navigate the many hurdles dealing with my husband’s veteran benefits. Your staff at the Beckley location have been a tremendous support and I wanted you to know what a tremendous help they have been. I couldn’t have done this alone. God Bless you and the people who work with you.
