We need to pray for our authorities
“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers intercessions, and giving of hanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence, for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” I Timothy 2:1-4 NKJ.
This passage speaks of civil government authorities. It is God’s will hat we have civil government and that we respect the authorities in civil government. We are to pray for God’s guidance and blessings for these authorities. Also, it is good to respectfully express our gratitude to authorities when we have opportunities to do this.
Along with prayers and expressing gratitude, the next thing we are to do is to set an example of being peaceful and law-abiding citizens. It is great to know that there are many law-abiding citizens in our territory that demonstrate love for peace and safety in our communities and on our public roads. Only our Lord knows the amount of good done by prayerful, respectful, peace-loving, law-abiding citizens. People of this kind are helping greatly with maintaining law and order and also safety in this territory. Let us pray that anyone who doesn’t show and live with respect for law and order will develop true appreciation for this positive attitude and adjust his life accordingly.
Let us all be praying for those who are responsible for the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of our government. The officials and authorities at all levels of our civil government need our prayers. We need to pray for divine guidance that the decisions made by these authorities will be in the best interests of this most wonderful country. Also, let us pray that the laws will be applied fairly and correctly.
Let us pray also for God’s guidance and protection to be granted to all who enforce our laws on the local, state, national, and international levels of government.
We need to also pray for divine guidance in the lives of those who seek to serve in any capacity of service for our country and please don’t neglect to pray for the exercising of our rights at the ballot box.
May God guide and bless America and keep us safe and strong in the true values.
