War on coal is costing West Virginia jobs
The Obama administration’s “war on coal” has cost more than coal production jobs. All the money from those lost jobs would have been spent in the state supporting other jobs.
Now Beretta, which supplies the M9 pistol to our military services, decided NOT to start up new manufacturing in our state because of the Manchin-sponsored firearm bill.
Although Sen. Joe Manchin has tried to do right by West Virginia, by befriending and siding with the liberal Democrats in the Senate, it has come back to bite the state’s citizens.
This article was taken with permission from the August 2013 issue of Gun Tests magazine:
“U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin’s role in the gun control debate has prompted firearms maker Beretta USA to turn down offers from officials and groups in West Virginia that it relocate to the state, a company executive said. Jeffrey Reh, general counsel and vice-general manager, cited comments from the West Virginia Democrat targeting high-capacity ammunition magazines.
“That really caused us some consternation and concern,” Reh said. “We’ve decided not to consider West Virginia as a site for future expansion.”
“Beretta, currently based in Accokeek, Md., has said in company statements that it is seeking to leave the state because of new restrictive gun laws that make many of Beretta’s products illegal to possess in Maryland.”
