Congressman Rahall, voters don’t agree

I read with interest your articles on Congressman Rahall’s defense of his record and I disagree with his belief that he is in touch with the 3rd District voters.

I strongly disagree with Congressman Rahall’s belief that the spending spree (Stimulus Bill/American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) is good for the 3rd District, the state of West Virginia and the United States. We have spent billions of dollars on many useless projects that we can’t afford. The result is that our children and grandchildren will be repaying this debt the rest of their lives. Mr. Rahall states that this bill has created jobs. Yes, it has, but using the government’s own figures at a cost of about $300,000 per job. This simply is a waste of taxpayer funds.

I have an idea for Congressman Rahall ... cut spending and live within your budget like most of your 3rd District voters do every day.

Even though Congressman Rahall believed the country was facing a depression, neither he nor any of our representatives were willing to reduce spending. I have always tried to be responsible and live within my means. I believe the government should do the same.

As for Congressman Rahall’s position on the cap and trade, he never entered into the debate at the time this legislation was being debated as to how he would improve the bill for West Virginia as he now maintains. He was all too willing to give all West Virginians a huge tax increase and cost this state thousands of coal jobs. The countries that we are in competition with (India, China) are laughing at our legislation. This will certainly put our country at a disadvantage.

I am interested in what is best for the district, this state, and this country. Congressman Rahall is part of the problem, not the solution.

Thanks for The Big Atlantic Classic

I just wanted to write in and state how thankful I am to see someone in southern West Virginia so dedicated to our youth, to take the time to host such a wonderful event as the Big Atlantic Classic.

I attended most of the events, as well as helped with a sponsorship, and wanted to remark on what a great time my family and I had. In spite of all the bad weather and scheduling mishaps (also due to weather), we really enjoyed attending the events and seeing so much talent and sportsmanship.

I just wanted to thank Jim, Pam, Mo, Terry, Richard, and I’m sure the scores of others, who devoted much time and effort to put on such an event. To see the smiles on so many young faces for having such an opportunity is great.

Again, thank you. You will have my support.

Thanks for Senate bill on uninsured drivers

Thank you, Sen. Unger, for the Senate bill (SB394) on uninsured drivers in West Virginia. Why should we pay for people who drive without insurance? We need more people like you who stand up for the people who put you in office.

Thanks again. Ever consider running for governor?
