Buffoonery has taken over the airwaves

The mainstream’s soundbite news versus talk radio and cable’s 24/7 funnies.

Sound Bite News snippets broadcast by NBC, ABC and CBS with its half hour allowed reporting time worked for years. Journalistic standards ruled and truth was paramount to guarantee, no matter what time zone, one would receive the news between the hours 5 to 7 p.m.

In 1987, like a creature out of The Black Lagoon or, better yet, like a demon-driven force from Lucifer’s army, came talk radio followed by cable. First Ted Turner’s CNN then FOX News. Demonizing every phase of American life with opinion.

When the demonizers came along, buffoonism took over with 24/7 reporting, resulting in one-hour broadcasts by opinionators the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, O’Reilly and Beck with one-hour repetitious shows.

Hour-long shows are now filled with nonsense. Bill O’Reilly of FOX News brags his show is the most-watched. To fill an hour he has succumbed to segments like discussing body language, answering e-mail and doing Mutt and Jeff acts with puppeteers, Dr. Krauthammer, Bernie Goldberg and comedian Dennis Miller.

Remember when the only source was prime news? The funnies were on the last page. 24/7 reporting news put the funnies in prime time.

Vote, help to defeat Nick Rahall’s dynasty

Now let’s look at what has happened to southern West Virginia. Over the years, our leaders have neglected their jobs of producing work for its people, hiring not the best worker, but one of the good ol’ boys’ friends or kin.

It’s coming close to November, but many say what’s the use, they always win. But when I spread the word, some want to join it. It’s going to take us all to defeat U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall’s dynasty and every vote counts.

I’m tired of being last. Hank Williams Jr. was somewhat of a prophet when he said the United States was going to be socialist instead of capitalist. But in November we can change it once and for all.

We have coal, timber, natural gas, we can make coal-driven cars, steel and deep, deep, in the coal are diamonds.

Now wouldn’t it be a victory if the Democrat Nick Rahall was defeated and the miners went back to work? If the miners are working, jobs will pop up and we will take care of ourselves like in the 1980s instead of welfare, food stamps, HUD, etc.

Come on Flying Eagles. Let’s soar together and win the most important election since the 1920s. Don’t forget our children. What do they have to look forward to? It’s our job to make it prosperous for them, don’t you think?

Register, vote, and pray. I feel a victory, let it come true.
