Where have all the children gone?
I’ve started looking more closely at the children playing in their yards and the local parks in Raleigh County lately and I noticed something unusual. I first wondered where most of the 8- to 15-year-old children went? Then I began to count how many children I actually saw in a day.
On the days that the temperature was ideal and the sun was warm and inviting, when most every child should have been outside running, jumping, climbing, swinging or playing ball, I could only count maybe 201!
Upon reflection I remembered that about 10 years ago, children seemed to be everywhere I looked. Where did they go?
Our precious children are to be found in their rooms. Their curtains are closed, their doors are closed tightly and no light can be found turned on because they need to see their computer or game system monitors and screens more clearly.
Our precious sun provides Vitamin D as well as lifting our moods and encouraging us to do something more.
It seems that only the youngest children are left to see and make one’s heart feel merry. Relationships with other children are now online and impersonal. Parent/child relations are suffering, too.
If we want to see the children again, we, as loving parents, need to make being outdoors just as, if not more, exciting than the games.
We’ve heard that the family that prays together, stays together. I think we should rephrase that to read the family that prays and plays together, stays together.
Democratic leadership stonewalling state AG
I have read the article about Attorney General Patrick Morrisey wanting to audit various state agencies and I find it refreshing to have an attorney general who wants to clean up our state. Only to be stonewalled by our own Democratic leadership!
Got to ask yourself, what is our Democratic leadership trying to hide?
All the time, I hear the phrase, well, he is a West Virginia Democrat, and to be fair, most West Virginia Democrats tend to be on the Blue Dog or conservative side of the Democratic Party. Used to be anyway.
Not now, though. Now our West Virginia Democrats tend to be of the “progressive” side of the party.
A prime example is Sen. Joe Manchin, who campaigned against the Affordable Care Act, yet now claims it can be fixed. How?
So what are Sen. Kessler and Speaker Miley hiding from the West Virginia people?
Where have all the children gone?
