Government fails to enforce several laws

I write this in response to the article “Is Sheriff Tanner a rogue cop?” I think it is quite ironic that the reader believes the sheriff’s intentions of not enforcing federal gun laws should be labeled as rogue, when in fact President Obama has publicly stated that he will not enforce many of our laws that are already on the books.

The Obama Administration says it will not deport some undocumented immigrants. They also stated they would not respond to; nor enforce illegal immigration encounters during police road checks in the state of Arizona.

This current government administration also chooses to not enforce the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which states that marriage is between one man and one woman. Although, unpopular by many, the “No child Left Behind” law will not be enforced by the government, nor will Obama enforce many of our marijuana laws. President Obama doesn’t even have the heart to enforce the obscenity and pornography laws, this list could go on and on, but I think you get the point.

As of Jan. 22, 2013: There were more than 127 sheriffs across the nation who stated they would not support the proposed new gun laws. I suppose that Sheriff Tanner thinks that he would be violating the law if he were to enforce unconstitutional gun laws. It seems to me that this administration is the one that selectively enforces which laws it prefers. Could this be considered a Rogue Government?

In conclusion, I do not believe race, nor ignorance had any bearing on Mr. Tanner’s decision. Please keep in mind that this comes from a non bias viewpoint, as I personally in 67 years have not owned a firearm.

Pope made the right decision to step down

What a magnificent display of wisdom to the world by the pope. Realizing that he no longer possesses the stamina and health of his earlier years, he has made the decision to resign.

Thousands of years ago, another man — after the heart of God — urged the righteous to continue trusting in the Lord, and stated, “I have been young, and now am old.”

Perhaps those who hold various political offices across America, seemingly for life, would do well to develop insight as to the effectiveness, or ineffectiveness, of the retention of their positions and also make a decision.
