Discipline needs to be returned to our schools

Our country was founded on morals and principles and taking those away is a lot of the reasons we have kids raising kids and so on. There should be discipline in our school. Our teachers should not be in fear of the child or the parent.

Our teachers should be respected by our students and if they are out of line, there should be a consequence. In the past when there were consequences for actions, students certainly would not even consider cursing a teacher or telling them “NO.”

 Our government needs to bring back detention, losing recess, wearing the dunce hat, writing sentences, sitting in the corner or even getting a paddling. These teachers deserve respect.

At what point has it become OK to allow our students to half-way succeed through life? Our government has implemented the No Child Left Behind law and has changed the grading average for students, but this has not helped; it has only hindered them because they do not have anything to strive for now.

Students don’t have to try any more because they know regardless of how bad their grades are they are going to be sent to the next grade level. This is not helping them or their future employer.

As for the grades, a student can study less because there is no expectation. Where is the challenge for our students to do their best? We should be raising the grade point system not dropping it. We should expect the best from our students not the least that they can get by with.
