Family appreciates God-fearing doctor
Have you ever had the horrible experience of a loved one getting extremely ill, having multiple medical procedures, being diagnosed with cancer, enduring surgery, being placed in a care center, and then suffering a massive stroke followed by severe brain bleed?
Our family had that situation. We were blessed to have the attending physician at the care center who was kind, compassionate and understanding. He not only understood our relative’s condition, but he took the time to treat her even though she was very disagreeable at times.
If we had a question or concern, we could go to his office (without an appointment) and he would take the time out of his busy schedule to see us, answer our questions, and calm our fears by explaining exactly what was happening and what to expect.
This kind, God-fearing physician is William O. Powers. He truly is an example of what everyone would love to have when illness comes. He lives by the Hippocratic Oath and practices the Golden Rule — what he believes in. He truly is a man of God.
With utmost appreciation, we, the family of Eva Delores Bragg, would like to toot a horn for Dr. Powers.

‘Black symbolism’ attached to Obama
I can understand why blacks are quick to take pride in Obama. I might “enjoy” the moment, but when the moment is used to “sugarcoat” the stark black present and future, it becomes protocol to speak against it.
I don’t expect much from any person interested in being president of the United States. My concern is with the fair-weather “black symbolism” that’s been attached to Obama. If you’re a fan of his policies or view him as simply another president, then fine. But don’t try to sneak him in through the back door after the dust has settled. Don’t get upset, either, when people have legitimate questions about him
On the campaign trail in 2008 and 2012, Obama avoided blacks like the plague and they enjoyed every minute of it. Do you honestly see nothing strange about accepting the notion that something will never prosper as long as it aligns with you? Can you say that this is “progress”? Your progress? If so, where are you going?
One thing about Obama is that he serves as a “blueprint” for what the “ideal” black person should be. He speaks well, he’s college [mis]educated, but most importantly, he never rocks the boat when it comes to issues of race. He’s a black man who’s perfectly fine with being complicit in America’s game of half-truths and outright B.S.
America has never had an aversion toward allowing accommodating blacks to bear its burdens or facilitate its prosperity. In fact that’s exactly what we blacks were kidnapped in Africa and brought over here for. The only time blacks have ever been considered a “problem” is when we’ve had the audacity to want to use our power primarily for our own benefit (as any normal human beings would). This audacity is what sparked beatings of runaway slaves; it’s what got Black Wall Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, burned to the ground in 1921; it’s what got black leaders shot during the 1960s. It’s also the same audacity that will get Obama in serious trouble should he ever decides to make the kind of “change” I can believe in.
