U.S. is turning into the former Soviet Union
As the citizens of this country sit doing nothing but watching TV, surfing the web, posting on Facebook and Twitter, our government is becoming more and more tyrannical. Like good drones we are looking for the next handout while sacrificing our liberty and freedom.
First there is the federal Real ID Act which dictates which documentation is required to obtain or renew your driver’s license. You’ll need this license to board an airplane. I feel as though we are turning into the former Soviet Union.
Next there is the Affordable Care Act. Voted into law and signed by the president against the will of the majority of Americans. All health care policies must provide for contraception. If you are a religious entity and this violates your principles, not to worry, the government will determine if your company meets their definition. In addition, companies that do not provide health care will be fined.
Now let’s get to the recent report filed by the General Accounting Office. “Highway Trust Fund - Pilot Program Could Help Determine the Viability of Mileage Fees for Certain Vehicles.” If implemented everyone would pay a fee ranging from 9 cents up to 2.2 cents for every mile driven.
Here comes the fun part. There are three methods that are mentioned to collect mileage data by the government. 1) GPS on every vehicle whereby the government can monitor your every movement and charge you more during peak traffic; 2) Pay at the pump where your odometer reading is sent to the pump via a wireless radio; 3) Prepaid Card — I hope you can guess how many miles you will drive.
Finally, the assault on the Second Amendment by the president. The founders were clear in their writings regarding the purpose of the Second Amendment. It is so the people can defend themselves if the government turns tyrannical.
I would like to leave you with three quotes:
“The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.” — Jeff Cooper, Art of the Rifle
“When the people fear the government there is tyranny; when the government fears the people there is liberty.” — Thomas Jefferson.
“Rebellion to tyranny is obedience to God.” — Thomas Jefferson.

I am very pleased that lawmakers did not pass the stupid “fireworks” law. I think Daniel Hall, D-Wyoming, should be happy he did not push this and he might rethink his feelings on it for next year. The majority of citizens care more about the economy and a job to buy food, not stupid items like fireworks.
