Public Visioning Meeting is for you

The intent of this letter is to make as many citizens as possible aware of the upcoming Public Visioning Meeting regarding the City of Beckley’s Comprehensive Plan. The meeting will be held at the John W. Eye Center on the campus of UC - Beckley from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19.

This is a unique opportunity for you, as a citizen of Beckley, to attend a public meeting to help plan Beckley’s future for the next 10 years.

One of many comprehensive plans was done in 1964, almost 50 years ago. It’s message is clear and still appropriate for today’s 21st century Beckley.

I cannot say it any better: “The comprehensive plan is not a substitute for experience, sound thinking and hard work on the part of Beckley’s citizens and officials. It cannot be an effective instrument without the existence of public-spirited citizens who are willing to make an all-out effort in order that Beckley may become a better community. Practicing and enforcing the provisions of the comprehensive plan and the codes and ordinances associated herewith are the means through which Beckley can achieve this end.”

Please come and help us plan for a healthy, vibrant and progressive Beckley.
