Give our athletes more time to practice

I agree; why not let our players practice in inclement weather when schools are closed?

As a parent, safety is my main concern as well, since my son would be one that would transfer himself to practice.

Parents as well can take initiative and decide if it is safe for their son/daughter to drive themselves or be taken by a parent, if feasible.

I have seen on several occasions when there has been no school and the roads are fine in the afternoon and kids take themselves to the mall or out driving around visiting their friends. What’s the difference?

Granted, the road conditions these past two days have been more severe with negative temperatures that make treating the roads a bit more difficult.

However, when the temperatures are above freezing in the afternoon and roads have been treated, there is no reason why our kids cannot go to practice or continue with their game if scheduled.

Practices should not be made mandatory but an “open gym” where those who can attend should be given the opportunity to do so.
