What’s going on with rock slide on W.Va. 3?

I go down there every day and all I see are so-called contractors doing nothing. The roadway is clear from what I can see but still no traffic allowed to pass. They are supposedly securing the area, but in reality, they’re sucking every dime out of the DOH they can.

It’s been the better part of two weeks now and at last word, it’s going to be another two weeks. Ray Charles could see what’s going on here.  Just a couple of years ago they removed the mountainside about 100 yards just below this area with all the heavy equipment but there was still one lane of traffic allowed.

I think we could have used our own DOH workers on this project and saved the hundreds of thousands of dollars that the contractor is getting. Supposedly they were brought in to get the job done quicker, but we can see that’s not going to happen.

Who makes these decisions and why wasn’t there a timeline? Before you even start to tell me that they have to secure the area, just take a drive from Stickney to Arnett and tell me how many other areas that are as bad or worse and are far from being secure. To secure these places the whole mountainside will need to be removed and we know that’s not going to happen, either.

Bottom line is we are only taxpayers and voters and that’s when we are some of the best citizens of this county; after that we’re not needed.

Just open a line of traffic to make it a little easier for the citizens and the miners that travel here. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.
