Blame parents for high dropout rate

What to do about dropouts?

The last people you need to ask are the kids. Have you ever watched Judge Judy when she asks, “How do you know when a 14-year-old is lying? Their lips are moving.”

Let’s blame the people who can reduce the dropout rate. It’s not the teachers, the administration or the Board of Education. It’s the parents.

Wreckers can do what they want to your car

Everyone will agree this is the worst winter ever. We all have our share of experiences and probably some horror stories about the weather.

Mine is about wrecker companies. As did so many people, I got stuck in a ditch during the first snowstorm. Called a wrecker but they were all busy. Two days later, my car was towed without my knowledge. My son happened to be in Beaver at Kroger and found my car. Incidentally I had called the sheriff’s department and was told I would have to call all wrecker companies on the list to find out who towed my car because they did not have anything to do with it. I found out later that a deputy had ordered it towed.

A few days later my keys were accidentally locked in my car. A wrecker company sent out a man to unlock my car. During the process he broke my back window. I called the company and was told there was nothing they could do about it. A couple of weeks later, I called yet another wrecker company to pull my car a few hundred yards. During that tow, the hook from the chain broke off a piece of fiberglass and drove it through my radiator. I have called a couple of times and was yelled out, told to shut up and threatened. And I just found out the driver has been bad-mouthing me to other wrecker drivers. They destroyed my radiator but I am the bad guy.

So in all I have paid $265 in tows plus $175 for my radiator plus antifreeze and the window will cost me at least $120. So what I gathered from all of this is: You pay a wrecker to tow your car and they can do whatever they want to your car and they get off scot-free. How messed up is that?
