Evidence supports intelligent design

A writer argues that letters about God prove nothing. If he means the personification of God by the various religions, then he is right. These ideas about the person and character of God can only be affirmed by a personal belief and the effect that belief has on the adherent of that religion. However, the preponderance of evidence is now on the side of an intelligent designer of the universe.

DNA seems far too complicated to have “randomly happened.” DNA must be present before cells can form. DNA transcribes to RNA the genetic information for using various amino acids to form the different proteins, which are used to form the “20 rooms” of each of the specific organ cells of the body. Random selection is not likely to work in this setting.

If I go hiking in the mountains and find rocks lain out in a manner which spells “Welcome to the mountain, Jennings,” I must believe someone placed them there. It is not likely they just randomly happened into place to spell the message. Sir John Templeton says in The Humble Approach: Scientists Discover God, “Would it not be strange if a universe without purpose accidentally created humans who are so obsessed with purpose?” And as Stuart C. Hackett said, “With modest apology to Descartes: Cogito, ergo Deus est! I think, therefore God is.”

How much do area BP stations pay for gas?

We bought gas at a BP station in Alderson on Aug. 11 for $3.79 a gallon, but gas was $3.97 at the BP stations in Beckley and Oak Hill on the same day. I'd like to know why?

Is it really less expensive to transport gas to a station located on a two-lane road like Rt. 12 than to a station located on a main traffic route such as U.S. 19?

Could it be that the gas stations in Greenbrier County need to compete with Virginia prices or that they can get gas cheaper from their wholesaler? Could it simply be “price gouging?”

It would be interesting to find out just how much the BP stations in all three areas pay for their gas.
