Black fly spraying challenge renewed



Last year I participated in a TV interview with Mr. Richard Smith on this issue. I offered to host a dialogue meeting at my place here on the Greenbrier River at Barger Spring. I renew that offer.

I make no claims to being a biologist, an expert, or anything of the such. I’ll leave that to CNN, CNBC, Fox and the like.

As for experts, I’ve dealt with them all my career in the courtroom. Their opinion and testimony are invariably diametrically opposed. One thing I do know, I’ve lived, visited, fished, swam, etc., on this river throughout my childhood and adult life. On that issue, the aquatic life as a whole ain’t what it was in past years.

The hellgrammites (grampus), fish, freshwater mussels, etc., are simply not as before. I issue a challenge once again to the proponents of black fly spraying to come snorkel the Greenbrier with me from Linsey Slides to my place, almost a mile, and see how many mussels, “grampus,” etc., we find.

I understand the black fly is a top-of-the-food-chain delicacy. Seems to me you kill them off, you might do some damage down the line.

Letters about God don’t prove anything



B.L. Evans says science can’t solve all of life’s big mysteries. Mr. Evans, God hasn’t solved any of the problems on earth.

Christians and Islams fighting each other. Catholics and Protestants going at it. You people can’t get along here on earth.

You quote Mr. Darwin on his deathbed and realized he was wrong. This does not prove anything. This is not proof that God exists.

Mr. Evans, you have no proof that God did anything. Mr. Evans, tell the people where God got the material to build the stars, earth, moon, sun, etc. The Bible does not prove anything. The Bible was written by man and we know what man is. He will lie to serve his own purpose.

Mr. Evans, get your God to feed the 27,000 kids who die every day of diseases and starvation. If God does this, then I will believe.

By the way, why did you disconnect your phone? I wanted to talk to you.

Also, Mary Nutter wrote an article pertaining to God, that he is a jealous God. He wants us for himself. Is he gay?

Mr. D.J. Fitzgerald also wrote an article about God which does not prove anything.

It would not take much for God to convince me. Stop the war, feed the starving people, show me man can fly without things to help him.

Burning Rock has good potential



My son and I just spent a day at the Burning Rock ATV area. I have ridden and raced on trails all over the eastern part of the United States. This area has the potential to compete with any place I have ever been. The easy access, challenging trails, excellent facilities and friendly people will be a great boost to the economy of our area.

Well done to all that have been involved.
