Plateau Medical Center staff provide great care
In this day of negativity, complacency and poor work ethic, I feel compelled to share some hope and shine a light on the staff of Plateau Medical Center. My mother, Helen Jackson, recently underwent knee replacement surgery at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill. Her surgeon Dr. Brett Whitfield performed the surgery. Our experience from admission to discharge was above and beyond any we have ever experienced. Most everyone we encountered went out of their way to provide excellent care for my mother. They are caring, compassionate and highly competent professionals who obviously love what they do which is evident in every way. I feel these people need to be recognized.
Milton in maintenance is always whistling, smiling and eager to do whatever he can, even if it was not his job. Mom was also impressed with Tom Crowder in anesthesiology, Alan Fell and Dr. Loot, anesthesiology, Bob Davis and Gary Bradford, physical therapy. Sandy Belmont, Lynn Mauritz, Beth Miller and Linda Harrell are perfect examples of what nursing care should be. They helped us through some tough days. We knew we were in good hands. We want to thank Dr.Whitfield, and Justus Smith, director of orthopedics at Plateau for the conscientious example you set and for the staff that you choose. You and your team are head and shoulders above the rest. We will never forget our experience at Plateau and I can not thank you enough for the excellent care you provided my mother before, during and following her surgery.

Heritage Festival was overwhelming success
The town of Ansted recently celebrated its annual Heritage Festival. The festival is a chance for current and former residents of the town to come out and enjoy the vendors and catch up with old friends.
This year the festival was an overwhelming success with more vendors and activities for all age groups. The festival is sponsored by the Ansted Improvement Motivators (AIM). AIM is a group of volunteers from Ansted and the surrounding area that work year round on various fund raisers and activities to improve the small town here in Ansted that we love to call home.
I just wanted to say thanks to AIM for their hard work during this festival and for all that they do to support the town of Ansted. The AIM volunteers are a great example for all of us that when you give of your time freely, good things can happen, and a small town can come alive with excitement.
