Something has to be done about gas prices

I have a question. Why are gasoline prices so much higher in the Oak Hill, Beckley area than other parts of the state?

I have been told that this area is off the “beaten path” so it costs more to deliver here. If that is the case, why is fuel cheaper in Hinton? Isn’t Hinton harder to get to than Beckley?

This is the only area in the state where all the gas stations sell fuel at the same price. To me that is price fixing!

Also, when this area gets a price increase, it goes up 10 to 15 cents a gallon and even if the price of oil goes down, fuel prices do not.

When oil was $117 a barrel, it dropped to $101 a barrel for a short time but the prices at the pump stayed high.

I recently moved back here from South Carolina. There the price of fuel increases one to three cents per gallon when it is raised, not 15 cents per gallon. In fact, fuel is as much as 50 cents a gallon cheaper in South Carolina than it is here. This is not right, especially since there are other stations in West Virginia that sell fuel for much less than it is here.

It now takes $50 to $75 to fill up a tank and that money used for fuel is taking food out of our mouths.

Something has to be done!

Superdelegates

have lost their focus

I am writing this letter to voice my opinion of the misplaced endorsements of Barack Obama by Congressman Nick Joe Rahall and Sen. John D. Rockefeller. We vote these gentlemen to be a voice for West Virginia and have given them this honor for many terms, thus far.

As superdelegates, I understand that they have the discretion to endorse the Democratic nominee; however, I feel they have lost focus on whom they represent in Washington. As is evident by Tuesday’s primary in West Virginia, voters overwhelmingly gave the voters’ endorsement to Hillary Clinton as our nominee. A closer contest may have changed my displeasure with these trusted men, but let’s be serious, it wasn’t even close by any means.

Congressman Rahall and Sen. Rockefeller have betrayed our confidence and trust by standing against such a large percentage of West Virginia voters. I have voiced my opinion to both these “career politicians.” I am also disappointed in their judgment as it pertains to representing West Virginia citizens. I hope that Sen. Byrd or Gov. Manchin or even the voters of West Virginia can contact these superdelegates of West Virginia and convince them to do the right thing and back West Virginia’s choice for the Democratic nominee.

I have spoken with many individual voters lately and they have voiced the same to me. I have asked them to contact Congressman Rahall and Sen. Rockefeller and voice their opinions as well.

So many people have indicated to me that if we can’t trust our representatives, maybe we need new representation in Washington, D.C. I hope we don’t become a McCain state in November!
