BAC-MU Big Green Coaches Tour golf outing today at Grandview

Marshall fans in Raleigh and Wyoming counties can celebrate their favorite teams and help the athletes at the same time.

The 24th annual Beckley Athletic Club of Marshall University (BAC-MU) Big Green Coaches Tour golf tournament will be held today at Grandview Country Club. Registration and lunch, provided by Subway, will run 10:30-11:45 a.m. The four-man golf scramble will have a noon shotgun start.

Among the coaches scheduled to attend is Danny D’Antoni, a Mullens native who was named the Thundering Herd’s new basketball coach on April 24. He returns to Huntington, where he was a point guard in the early 1970s, after a 30-year career as coach at Socastee High in Myrtle Beach that preceded four stops in a nine-year career as an NBA assistant to his brother Mike D’Antoni.

D’Antoni will not be alone. Also scheduled to be at the event are athletic director Mike Hamrick and football coach Doc Holliday, as well as soccer coach Bob Gray and Big Green executive director John Sutherland.

Dinner will be provided by Pasquale’s after the event.

There will be several door prizes and hole prizes.

Cost for the event is $125 per golfer. Anyone not wanting to golf but wishing to attend dinner can do so for $25.

All proceeds go toward scholarships for Marshall student-athletes.
