NSD: OL Devers a big get for Herd

Offensive line was considered Marshall’s biggest area of need this recruiting season. That need was certainly addressed.

The first high schooler to fax in his letter-of-intent on Wednesday’s National Signing Day was Nathaniel Devers, an offensive lineman out of Washington High in Massillon, Ohio. Devers wasted no time: his letter emerged from the fax machine at 7:16 a.m.

Already enrolled at Marshall are defensive back Donaldven Manning, a transfer from Virginia Tech, and Ricardo Williams, a defensive lineman who originally played at the University of Miami. Both will be eligible in the fall.

Devers, listed at 6-foot-5, 275 pounds, is a three-star recruit ranked as the nation’s No. 7 center by Rivals.com. He runs a 5.0 40 and has a max bench press of 405 pounds.

Devers gave a verbal to Cincinnati last June, but backed out and committed to Marshall on Super Bowl Sunday.
