— The West Virginia University baseball team has performed above expectations in its first year in the Big 12 — one of the country’s premier baseball conferences — staying competitive in every series and even winning one against Texas Tech.

Fans in the area will get to see that team first-hand April 26-28 when the Mountaineers visit Beckley’s Linda K. Epling Stadium for a three-game series with Kansas. WVU, now 17-15 overall and 4-5 in Big 12 play, will host the Jayhawks that Friday (April 26) at 6:30 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Single game tickets are now on sale. The most affordable option in purchasing tickets is visiting any Little General Stores location in Raleigh and Fayette counties. Those tickets are available for $5.

Tickets can also be purchased online at www.wvugame.com for $7. Groups of 10 or more can get those same tickets for $5. Tickets at the game on game day will be $9.

WVU, under the direction of first-year head coach Randy Mazey, will be at Ohio State tonight, will host Youngstown State on Wednesday and then travel to Lynchburg, Va., for a three-game series with Liberty this weekend. The Mountaineers, third in the conference with a .299 team batting average, are led by Bobby Body and Jacob Rice, who are tied for fifth in the league with 44 hits each. Ryan McBroom is second in the Big 12 with seven home runs.

Sophomore pitcher Harrison Musgrave has been the Mountaineers’ biggest weapon on the mound. The lefty from Bridgeport is 4-1 on the year with a 3.61 ERA.

Kansas is 18-12 overall and 5-4 in conference play. Michael Suiter is third in the Big 12 with a .391 batting average. Jordan Piche’ is one of the conference’s best pitchers with a 4-1 record and a 0.59 ERA.
