GLEN DANIEL — Emily Fedukovich hit three 3-point baskets and finished with a game-high 18 points to lead Independence to its first win of the season, 39-30 over Liberty Monday in prep girls basketball action.

Krista Harris and Kriste Greene scored 10 points apiece for Independence.

Stacey Williams led the Raiders with 15 points  and Katana Bryant added eight.

Independence travels to River View Friday and Liberty hosts Bluefield Friday.



Westside 107, Oak Hill 13

CLEAR FORK — Ten players scored, six in double digits, as defending Class AA champion Westside defeated Oak Hill.

Faith Davis led the way with 23 points, followed by Hope Lester with 21, Megan Endicott 14, Morgan Spolarich 13, Kristin Hash 12 and Danielle Brown 10.

Lester grabbed 13 rebounds and Endicott 10. Spolarich had nine assists and Brown eight.



Summers County 62, Shady Spring 32

HINTON — Shelby Smith scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Summers County breezed by Shady Spring.

Avery Pivont added 10 points for the Bobcats (3-0), who begin play in the annual Rogers Oil Classic on Friday.

Kaylee Dickenson scored nine for Shady (1-4), which visits Wyoming East Wednesday.



Tygarts Valley 47, Richwood 36

RICHWOOD — Shanda Howell poured in 21 points to lead Tygarts Valley past Richwood.

Paige Pritt added eight for Tygarts Valley.

Hannah Green led a Richwood squad that battled foul trouble all night with 13 points, while Hannah Brown scored 12.

Richwood (0-3) travels to Midland Trail Thursday.



n PREP BOYS BASKETBALL

Webster County 94, Pocahontas County 45

UPPER GLADE — Webster County raced out to a 54-15 halftime lead and rolled past Pocahontas County Monday to win its season opener.

Brett Morris led the Highlanders with 15 points, four blocks and five assists.

Tyler Anderson added 12 points, while Hunter Given chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds for the Highlanders. Lance Stout added 10 points.

Cary Robertson led the Warriors with 12 points and Adam Irvine added 10.

NEW RICHMOND — R.J. Folden scored 21 points and had six assists to lead the Warriors.

Alec Lusk added 13 points, while David Carte chipped in 8 points and 9 rebounds.

Andrew Wood scored 23 points for Princeton. Ryan Lankford had 13.

Wyoming East (5-1) plays at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Chapmanville.
