If The Greenbrier Classic has you itching to hit the greens, you’re in luck. There are still spots remaining for the 33rd Annual BNI Memorial Classic, to be played at Grandview Country Club, Brier Patch Golf Links and the championship at The Cobb Course at The Resort at Glade Springs.
Brier Patch returns following a short absence, replacing Pipstem Golf Course in the event.
“We’re excited to bring it back to Briar Patch this year and give it a bit more local flavor,” BNI director David Hunter said. “It was more geographic than anything else. It will bring a local flair to the tournament.”
Limited openings to participate in the event remain, but are filling quickly. Interested golfers should contact Hunter at 304-640-8660 or by email at email@example.com.
The BNI is one of the largest amateur tournaments in the state, annually hosting over 150 golfers. Golfers will start at either Brier Patch or Grandview on July 13, playing the opposite course on July 14. Champions in multiple flights will be crowned on July 15 at Glade Springs.
2012 BNI winner and former Marshall University golfer Bosten Miller, who defeated two-time BNI champion Brandon Reece on a two-hole playoff last year, will not be in attendance this year.
“Miller’s absence opens the door for us to crown a new champion this year,” Hunter added. “That may get some golfers excited. A chance to win a championship.”
