Arrest made in fatal shooting

The victim of the Friday shooting and carjacking in Arnett has been identified as Johnny Nile Condia, 77, of Dameron, according to a press release from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s detectives arrested Mickey Roger Daniel Jr., 29, of Edwight, in connection to Condia’s death early Sunday morning. Daniel is currently lodged in the Southern Regional Jail.

In the press release, police said Daniel shot Condia while Condia was inside his vehicle on Saxon Bolt Road in Arnett. Daniel took Condia’s 2005 Toyota Corolla, the release added, leaving Condia lying in the roadway. He was transported to Raleigh General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

According to the release, the investigation is still very active. More information will be released as it becomes available.
