Finally, spring

It’s officially here this afternoon — but tell that to the weather

BECKLEY — Many of the people who were planning to do their annual spring cleaning this weekend may want to wait before they pack away the winter clothes.

Charles Dickens wrote of this time of year: “It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.”

This March is no different and even though the sun has been shining and today is the official first day of spring, temperatures are going to drop once again this weekend and into next week.

Meteorologists from the National Weather Service in Charleston predict lows near 20 Sunday night and highs only reaching into the 30s on Monday.

Meteorologist Brian Walder from WVVA news echoed the National Weather Service adding that these temperatures are 15 to 20 degrees lower than what is expected for this time of year.
