Woman stabbed in Beckley, police looking for suspect

BECKLEY — Beckley Police expect arrest warrants to be issued today against a woman accused of stabbing another woman early Wednesday, Beckley Police Department Sgt. Frank Priddy said.

The stabbing occurred around 3 a.m. at 102 Grant St. when the unidentified suspect stabbed the victim twice in the back, Beckley Police Department Chief Lonnie Christian said.

Priddy said the suspect was an acquaintance of both the victim and the victim’s boyfriend. She allegedly stabbed the victim when the victim and the victim’s boyfriend were having “a loud conversation” on the street, according to Priddy.

The motive was unclear Wednesday.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery and was still at Raleigh General Hospital  Wednesday. Officials said she is cooperating with the police investigation.
