Arnett — Emergency dispatchers received a call just before 6 p.m. Friday reporting a shooting and carjacking on Saxon Bolt Road in Arnett.

The caller said an unidentified 78-year-old man was shot in the back with a .22-caliber rifle while inside his 2005 silver Toyota Corolla. The shooter took the victim’s car and drove off toward Bolt, the report said.

Raleigh County sheriff’s deputies and West Virginia State Police responded to the scene.

The bullet exited the victim cleanly and bleeding was controlled, according to reports, but no further details about his condition were available Friday evening.

Deputies and troopers surveyed the Bolt/Breckenridge Road area in search of the vehicle.
