BECKLEY — The Beckley Art Group’s Handmade Holiday Gift Fair and Gallery of Trees offers the community a chance to purchase unique and handcrafted holiday gifts while supporting local artists.

Margie Owens, a volunteer for the group, said the gift fair “shows the talent of Raleigh County citizens and offered their labors of love to the community to give to their own loved ones.”

Everything in the gallery, from paintings to jewelry to hand-turned wood and pottery tree ornaments, is handmade and unique, she said.

Jim Cox, chairman of the Holiday Gift Fair, said this show is one of the group’s most popular and helps raise money to pay the expense of running the gallery.

“We would be really happy for the public to stop by and take a look. We consider ourselves to be a legitimate shopping location for Christmas gifts,” he said.

Beckley Art Group had a reception Saturday to mark the gift fair’s opening with refreshments and live music.

Local artist Perl Tipper was to sign a new book she and Owens collaborated on. Copies of this book of poetry, which features Tipper’s art, are also available at the gallery.

The gift show and Gallery of Trees will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday until Dec. 22 at Cynthia Bickey Art Gallery on Johnstown Road in Beckley.
