In an effort to reach a new demographic of donors, the American Red Cross is teaming up with 4Raleigh to host the “4Raleigh 4Life Blood Drive” Aug. 9 at Hooter’s on Harper Road.
Scott Hill, with the American Red Cross in Beckley, said this event will have great food, live music and donors will have an opportunity to give the gift of life.
“We’re partnering with folks we don’t normally partner with, but we think this blood drive will highlight a different age bracket.”
He said many kids donate blood in high school or college, but get busy with their careers after school and forget to donate.
“Drives like this are important to bring new donors in or donors who haven’t donated in a while.”
Local bands, Heavy-Set Paw-Paws and Magestic 12, will perform during the drive from 2 to 7 p.m.
“It’s going to be a really fun time,” Hill said. “I encourage folks to come out.”
He said August is still a part of summer, which is an especially difficult season for donations.
As of Thursday, Hill said the American Red Cross was still in emergency status need, so he hopes to see a good turnout for this event.
The event is sponsored by 99.5 WJLS and Muscle Architecture.
