FAYETTEVILLE — Just in time for Mother’s Day, the Fayette County Farmers Market will open its 2013 season today in Fayetteville.

Pick up mom-friendly items like jams and jellies, berry plants, trees, perennials and vegetable starts, as well as other fresh, early season produce like strawberries, lettuce, onions, spinach, peas and radishes.

Farm fresh eggs and homemade breads and sweets will also be available.

The market runs from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau at the entrance to Fayetteville, just off of U.S. 19.

Senior Coupons, WIC vouchers and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are accepted.

The market will continue operation at that location every Saturday through November.

Look for promotional programs and events featuring fresh, healthy food and local farms, hosted by the Fayette County Farmer’s Market throughout the season.

Besides shopping, there are several ways to get involved with the market. They are always looking to support local growers, farmers and bakers.

Membership is open to anyone interested in selling locally-grown produce.

If you are interested in selling, contact market manager Brian Smith at 304-574-4717 or e-mail
