Winter Safety Seminar planned for Nov. 7

A Winter Safety Seminar is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Dream Center, 224 Pinewood Drive, Beckley.

It is being sponsored by the Southern West Virginia Preparedness Partnership whose mission is to create a sustainable public/private partnership that gives the region the ability to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.

The purpose of the Winter Safety Seminar is to help people have a better understanding of the impact of weather events, preparation for weather events, the location of emergency shelters, how they are activated and the services they provide.

In a case where individuals must shelter at home during a weather event, the seminar will cover information for preparations that need to be made in advance to ensure their safety and comfort.

Community organizations will have display tables to provide information and anyone wishing to display their materials should contact the Chamber of Commerce at 304-252-7328.

To attend, reservations are required. Reservations can be made by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 304-252-7328.
