iPad training session for Raleigh County elementary teachers

Raleigh County elementary teachers will gear up for the start of the school year by attending an iPad training session today at the iRaleigh technology lab.

Training will prepare teachers to educate students via electronics as opposed to the traditional “paper and pencil” classroom.

Raleigh Schools Technology Coordinator Mary Ann Foster said Tuesday that the training will last all day.

iRaleigh will host a full day of training for secondary school teachers Thursday, she added.

Foster added that the county now hosts four technology integration specialists who will be available to assist teachers on the iPads during the school year.

Twenty teachers received Vanguard training in the iPads and will be available to coach colleagues, she added.

Foster said there will also be a total of seven half-day iPad training sessions available to every Raleigh teacher during the school year.

“That’s where the rubber’s going to meet the road: throughout the school year,” remarked Foster. “We’re going to bring the teachers in, then they can go and follow up with their students.”
