Beckley police bust meth lab

The Beckley Police Department uncovered a methamphetamine lab inside a residence on Edwards Street in Beckley Monday.

Police Chief Tim Deems said Beckley Police Department’s Drug Unit, the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police searched the Edwards Street home after a drug investigation revealed methamphetamine was being sold on the property.

Once inside, police found a meth lab in the basement and called the Environmental Protection Agency to secure the residence due to the potential presence of dangerous chemicals, he said.

Detectives arrested Jeorge James Lozovoy, 27, from Pittsburgh, Pa.

Lozovoy has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance and is being held in Southern Regional Jail on a $30,000 bond.

Additional charges are pending, said police.
