The 249th West Virginia Army National Guard Band will perform Saturday at noon in the Youth Museum of Southern West Virginia amphitheater.
Director Leslie Baker said the band’s Chief Warrant Officer Tom Goff called “out of the blue” and said that the group was down from Morgantown to play for the Boys Scouts.
“Chief Goff explained that they had some extra time and they wanted an opportunity to play for the public here in Beckley because they don’t get the opportunity to play in this part of the state very often.
“We are so thrilled that they called the museum. We hope to get they word out and generate a good audience for these gentlemen who choose, not only to serve our country, but to inspire us with their music as well.”
The band is under the command of CW5 Thomas Goff and 1st Sgt. Cynthia Marr. The group will be playing a variety of music including patriotic marches, ragtime, jazz and they will finish off with some rock-n-roll.
The performance will last about an hour and a half
The event is free and open to all.
