This second compilation of Mickey Furfari’s legendary coverage of West Virginia University athletics features pieces on the late Jack Fleming, better known as “The Voice of the Mountaineers,” star football quarterbacks Pat White and Major Harris, Mountaineers basketball coach Bob Huggins, WVU track and football star James Jett, record-setting football defensive back Steve Newberry and much, much more including Mickey’s take on “The Dumbest Thing I Ever Did in My Life.”
Former WVU football star Fred Wyant, also a former NFL referee, penned the foreword for this book.
For those who pre-ordered signed copies of Mickey’s Mountaineer Memories, Volume 2, in the spring, those books will be mailed or will be available for pick-up Dec. 5. Additional copies will be available for purchase that same day and throughout the business week at Beckley Newspapers during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The price is $25.
A very limited number of Volume 1 is also still available at the price of $25. However, if you purchase Volume 2 you can also purchase a copy of Volume 1 in a combination buy for $40, a discount of $10.
