Animal Rescue group plans events

— Raleigh County Animal Rescue Inc. will host a number of fundraising events during the month of October.

According to Iona Bowers, founder of RCAR, October is the time of year that donations dwindle, but costs do not.

The first event is scheduled Saturday at Tractor Supply in Beckley from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include adoptions, a hot dog sale and Halloween costumes for your pet. All sizes of costumes are available from XS to XXL and include lady bugs, lions, frogs, biker, butterflies and many more. These costumes are brand new and will be available for discounted prices.

RCAR will hold adoptions at Pet Supplies Plus in Beckley on the weekends of Oct. 12 and Oct. 19. These two weekends will include pet adoptions of puppies and kitties.

October will also be the “Paws for a Cause” at Pet Supplies Plus. Paw prints will be available for purchase at the register. Each paw print will be sold for $1 and the proceeds will go to benefit Raleigh County Animal Rescue's spay/neuter program.

Raleigh County Animal Rescue is a home-based, no-kill, all volunteer organization and has been operating in the area for the last 10 years. In that time, RCAR has adopted approximately 9,000 pets and has spayed or neutered almost 8,500 pets.

Any donations may be made to Raleigh County Animal Rescue at P.O. Box 794, Coal City, WV 25823. RCAR is a registered 501-c-3 with the IRS. Consequently, any donation is tax-deductible.
