Long trek

Ed Wiley, left, who walked from West Virginia to Washington, meets with Sen. Robert C. Byrd, D-W.Va. in Byrd’s Senate office on Capitol Hill in Washington Wednesday. The Raleigh County grandfather made the 455-mile trip to draw attention to a coal refuse pond and preparation plant near Marsh Fork Elementary School.
