The Southern Regional Highway Safety Awards Banquet was held Thursday at the Moose Lodge in Beckley to recognize officers who were doing an excellent job by enforcing laws and making roadways safer.
Beckley Police Department Sgt. Frankie Shelton, was named the 2012 Officer of the Year for the 14th consecutive year for best all around enforcement performance and most consistent efforts in most every category of highway safety. He also received a MADD Top Dawg Award, an Occupant
Protection Award and a Distinguished Service Award.
