Greenbrier partners with PGA golfer Webb Simpson

West Virginians now have another PGA TOUR golfer to support.

Webb Simpson, the 2012 U.S. Open champion, has been added to The Greenbrier’s team of professional golfers who represent the resort. Simpson, a Raleigh, N.C., native, will join The Greenbrier Golf Pro Emeritus Tom Watson and Kenny Perry and will display The Greenbrier logo on his golf bag in all professional golf tournaments, pro-am golf events and public golf exhibitions.

“I couldn’t be more excited to have Webb Simpson, a bright young star on the PGA TOUR, who embodies everything that The Greenbrier stands for, represent The Greenbrier,” said Jim Justice, owner of The Greenbrier. “Webb has brought his family here for all three years of The Greenbrier Classic and has enjoyed all the amenities that the resort has to offer.

“Webb has also played extremely well with two top 10 finishes. This July, I look forward to watching Webb compete in pursuit of the coveted Springhouse Trophy. I anticipate a long partnership between The Greenbrier and Webb Simpson. He is an outstanding young man of whom we are all very proud.”

Simpson turned professional in 2008 after graduating from Wake Forest University and has won three times on the PGA TOUR. He now lives in Charlotte, N.C., with his wife, Taylor, son James and daughter Willow Grace.

“We had always heard about The Greenbrier’s rich history, incredible beauty and legendary service, but it truly exceeded our expectations,” said Simpson in a release announcing the new partnership. “And, to now be an ambassador for The Greenbrier and all that it represents is an honor beyond words. It is the highlight of our tournament year, and my family and I look forward to spending time at The Greenbrier for many years to come.”

The Greenbrier has had partnership’s with many of golf’s biggest names in the past, including Sam Snead, a seven-time major championship winner who become the head pro at The Greenbrier in 1944 and made his home there for more than 60 years.

Nick Faldo a six-time major winner, who is now a golf television analyst, is currently buidling a home on The Greenbrier property and recently filmed an episide of “Feherty” for The Golf Channel at The Greenbrier Sporting Club.
