Morning wave lighting up the second round at the Classic

Hurley III takes the lead as others make big moves

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — The morning wave is where you want to be at The Greenbrier Classic.

In the first round, seven of the top nine including the day’s leader came from it. After the morning pairings finished the second round, it looks like today will be the same.

Billy Hurley III sits atop the leaderboard after firing a seven-under 63 to move to nine-under overall.

Kevin Chappell and Chris Stroud are tied for second at eight-under.

Stroud carded a second-straight four-under 66.

The big mover of the day was Troy Matteson who went from two-over to seven-under.

The Georgia Tech alum had nine birdies on his way to a nine-under 61 — the low round of the tournament so far.

First-round leader Jonas Blixt teed off just after 1 p.m. and is currently in fifth.
