NRCTC celebrating 10th anniversary

New River Community and Technical College is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and each campus is hosting a birthday party as part of the commemoration.

The Greenbrier Valley Campus will hold its party at 3 p.m. Thursday in the student lounge on the ground floor of Greenbrier Hall, 101 Church St., Lewisburg.

The public is invited to drop by and visit with faculty, staff and students and enjoy a piece of birthday cake.

The celebration will continue in the evening as the GVC hosts the Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours from 5 to 7 p.m. Business After Hours is an opportunity to connect with business leaders in the community and showcase their business.

If you are not a chamber member, but would like to attend, call 304-645-2818.

Following that event, the campus will host the Greenbrier Valley Entrepreneurship Café in Hollowell Auditorium from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The Café is sponsored by New River, the Greater Greenbrier Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corp.

The public is also invited to the inauguration of New River’s third president, Dr. L. Marshall Washington, at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.

New River Community was created by the Legislature in 2003, combining the two-year components of Bluefield and Glenville state colleges.

As part of the West Virginia Community and Technical College system, it serves nine counties in southeastern West Virginia from five locations: Mercer County Campus (Princeton), Nicholas County Campus (Summersville), Beckley Campus, Greenbrier Valley Campus (Lewisburg) and the Advanced Technology Center (Ghent).

Administrative offices are located in Beckley.

For more information about the birthday events, call the Greenbrier Valley Campus at 304-647-6560.
