Alderson to host tribute to late pastor

The River of Life Church of God in Alderson will host a tribute to their late pastor, Phil Combs.

The tribute to Pastor Phil Combs will be at the River of Life Church of God on Rt. 63 just outside of Alderson on Sunday, Nov. 3. Services begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by refreshments in the fellowship hall.  

In memory of Pastor Combs and to continue his dream to pay off the debt of the church, a memorial building fund has been established at City National Bank in Alderson. If you would like to make a memorial contribution, please contact City National Bank.

Pastor Combs was a giver to the community and to the people of his church. He had a heart and passion for the Lord and offered encouragement and guidance at every opportunity. He was a genuine, caring person and accomplished many wonderful things during his 85 years on earth and impacted the hearts and lives of so many people.

Pastor Combs was a minister for the Church of God for 60 years. His ministry to the Lord began at Mohegan Church of God in the Welch district. He then pastored at the Hartwell Church of God, Baptist Valley Church of God and finally in Alderson at the Alderson Church of God until he was able to realize a vision of doing greater things for God and build a new church, River of Life Church of God, where he pastored nearly 30 years.
