Follow the Yellow Brick Road — to the Crossroads Mall.
Dorothy, Toto and her pals from the Land of Oz are inviting their fans to join them for “Breakfast in the Emerald City,” taking place at the Boston Beanery on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
And would-be Dorothys, Scarecrows and Tin Men can show off their stuff during an Oz costume contest.
Cast members from Theatre West Virginia’s current production of “The Wizard of Oz” will appear at a special breakfast buffet hosted by the Boston Beanery. Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion will be in attendance, with Toto greeting guests at the door.
A couple of witches might “drop in.”
The event is a fundraiser for TWV, and attendees will have a chance to enjoy breakfast, have pictures taken with the cast, get autographs and win prizes. Cameras are welcome at the event.
The mall is also sponsoring a costume contest in conjunction with the breakfast. Children ages 12 and under can dress up as their favorite Oz character and win prizes, including tickets to see the musical’s final performance at Cliffside Amphitheatre on Aug. 9.
The first, second and third place winners will receive tickets to attend the show and be introduced from the stage by Crossroads Mall Manager Kathy Housh.
Tickets for Breakfast in the Emerald City are $15 per person and may be purchased at the Boston Beanery or by calling TWV at 304-256-6800 or 800-666-9142. Seating is limited, and all tickets must be purchased prior to the event.
For more information, call TWV at either of the numbers above.
