12th annual Senior Celebration coming to Mercer Mall this week

A tribute to veterans, a performance by Christ Incorporated and pampering by Bath and Body Works will highlight the 12th annual Senior Celebration Wednesday at Mercer Mall.

Center Court will be filled with dancing, fashion, helpful information, free health screenings and prizes.

The event is sponsored by Senior Focus, a group of professionals who work together to develop programs that enhance the lives of area residents 50 and older.

Seniors are encouraged to register at Center Court as they arrive to become eligible for prizes that will be given away throughout the day, according to Susan Belcher, Senior Focus member and vice president-community relations at GlenWood Park Retirement Village.

Seniors who visit each exhibit will also be entered into a drawing for the grand prize, a $100 Mercer Mall gift card courtesy of The Havens at Princeton.

Other events include bingo from 9 to 10 a.m. and 3 to 4 p.m. Bath and Body Works will pamper attendees at Center Court from 9 a.m. to noon. Exhibits will be set up at Center Court from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. offering information about a wide variety of services and products available for seniors.

Free health screenings will be offered by Bluefield Regional Medical Center and Princeton Community Hospital.

Activities at Center Court will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Admission price for the event is a can of food, which will benefit Tender Mercies in Princeton.
