The Robert C. Byrd Clinic and Rhema Christian Center have joined forces to offer free fitness classes for people in the community.
Dubbed “Greenbrier County on the Move,” the classes are being held at the Fairlea church on Tuesdays, with sessions at 6 and 7 p.m.
“It’s free; it’s open to everybody — all ages, shapes and sizes,” says Cathy Rennard of Rhema’s pastoral staff.
Rennard describes the classes, all of which are taught by certified fitness instructors, as a “stepping stone” for people who aren’t ready to make the commitment required by a fitness club membership or who are self-conscious exercising in a gym environment.
“We have fun,” she emphasizes. “You don’t have to pre-register; just show up and sign in.”
Funded by a Communities on the Move grant, classes include Zumba, Jazzercise, yoga, strength training and kick-boxing.
