Woman’s club to celebrate 100 years of service in area

— To celebrate its 100 years of service in the Beckley area, the GFWC Woman’s Club of Beckley has elected to install a ‘‘Ladies of Vision Plaque’’ in the clubhouse on Park Avenue in Beckley listing all those women who have been members over the years and made the club the outstanding organization it is to the area and community.

Names of women who have been members over the years are being engraved on a metal bar to be fastened to the plaque. All present and previous members are eligible to have their names listed by subscribing to the project with a donation of $50 and filling out the information about their woman’s club participation.

It is hoped that the present descendants of former club members will see fit to have their predecessor’s name placed on the plaque. Members especially want to have the names of the early organizers of the club listed.

Club members will celebrate Federation Day today at 4 p.m. with the installation of the plaque at the Woman’s Clubhouse on Park Avenue in Beckley. The public is invited to this presentation.
